The days are getting shorter and the nights are drawing in; winter is on the approach. One of our favourite things about this season is snuggling in, getting cosy in a big jumper and lighting some of our beautiful church candles. At Watts & Co we’ve been producing candles for almost 150 years. We’re very proud of our incredibly rich history – the founders of Watts & Co designed some of the most iconic landmarks in the UK – and to celebrate our heritage we’ve collaborated with an up and coming photographer Emily Coles to document our candles outside some of these buildings.
A selection of our church pillar candles photographed in front of Battersea Power Station. Designed by one of our founders, Sir Giles Gilbert Scott, the station ceased generating electricity in the early 1980′s but is now undergoing a huge redevelopment project to turn the derelict space into flats, restaurants, retail units and much more.
Sir Giles Gilbert Scott also designed the iconic red telephone box (he liked to keep busy!), the beautiful rich ivory colour of our candles look amazing next to the instantly recognisable and striking red of the famous London telephone box.
The candles look stunning in the foreground of the Albert Memorial in Hyde Park, designed by another of our founders, George Gilbert Scott.
Our candles come beautifully packaged, a perfect gift at this time of year or even a treat for yourself! View our full range here.
