The 'Bellini' is a 15th-century design which has been part of the Watts' collection for many decades. It was re-drawn by Augustus Pugin from a hanging depicted in the painting 'Medici Madonna and the Saints' by Rogier Van der Weyden. The current pattern design can be seen in vestments designed by Pugin in the collection of the V&A Museum, London. The fabric is named after Giovanni Bellini, a 16th-century Venetian painter. It is woven in pure silk in a large variety of Comper colours, exclusive to Watts & Co.
