Memlinc

A Watts & Co. exclusive design, 'Memlinc' was designed by G. F. Bodley around 1870. The inspiration seems to be a patterned robe from The Presentation in the Temple, a painted panel from the Sankt Wolfgang Altarpiece (1485) by Michael Pacher. However, a similar design can also be seen in the work of Hans Memling from around 1479, hence the fabric's name.

The large-scale pattern is typical of the architectural quality inherent in all Bodley's designs and the weight makes this fabric ideal for hangings and frontals. 'Memlinc' can be seen in Bodley's designs for the Blue Drawing Room in Powys Castle, Wales.
