The design of this fabric was originally based on a Byzantine one which was then re-drawn by the 19th-century architect G. F. Bodley, one of the founders of Watts & Co. It is so called as the new design was used for a cope for the Rev. Richard Meux Benson, founder of the Cowley Fathers.

The ornate floral pattern and harmoniously varied colours make this one of our most versatile fabrics. It can be used for altar palls and vestments alike.
