Pine - Black
An early Watts & Co. offering, G. F. Bodley designed this fabric around 1875. It is based on the design seen in the central panel of the Altarpiece of St Nicholas (1486–93) by the Master of the Legend of St Lucy. Similar patterns can be seen in the works of Hans Memling and other works of the Flemish School. Bodley used his design in several of his churches as well as in the Grand Committee Room in Westminster Palace.
The strong and graceful pattern of 'Pine' is set on a heavy cotton fabric which best lends itself to dramatic hangings.
